It’s Now or Never for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Lions in Qualifier 2

gjNew Delhi, Friday, May 27 – Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Lions gear up for a contest that will make one among them step ahead and finish stint of the another at the end of the day. if each aspect is to be calculated and observed then confidence of Sunrisers Hyderabad is up since they lately defeated Kolkata Knight  Riders in the eliminator.

On the other hand, Gujarat Lions lost at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. GL did not succeed to defend a total of 158 runs and missed the chance of having a direct entry in the finals.

Sunrisers Hyderabad is to be captained by David Warner. Hopes of the captain and supporters will be up from Shikhar Dhawan, Naman Ojha, Yuvraj Singh, Moises Henriques, Ben Cutting, Bipul Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Karn Sharma, Abhimanyu Mithun, Barinder Sran, Mustafizur Rahman, Siddarth Kaul, Eoin Morgan, Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Ashish Nehra, Aditya Tare, Tirumalsetti Suman, Ashish Reddy, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar and Ricky Bhui. It will be interesting to know whether any changes are made in the Playing XI or the team will look same as similar to what it had been against KKR.

Possibility of finding no change is higher but nothing can be said for sure when it comes to cricket thanks to unpredictability involved in this sport, which is loved by scores of people. Gujarat Lions are keen to reach at a point from where the dream of lifting IPL season 9 trophy can be fulfilled. Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Dwayne Smith, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Aaron Finch, Brendon McCullum, Eklavya Dwivedi, Praveen Kumar, Shadab Jakati, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sarabjit Ladda, James Faulkner, Pradeep Sangwan, Paras Dogra, Jaydev Shah, Dale Steyn, Andrew Tye, Pravin Tambe, Akshdeep Nath, Umang Sharma, Amit Mishra, Ishan Kishan and Shivil Kaushik together produce a wonderful combination of batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders.

Not to forget that Gujarat Lions were the table toppers in league stage having 18 points, the most among all. They tasted victory in nine matches and lost just five games. If truth be told then some mistakes were made and the bigger was to not having a good partnership in the first few overs. The GL opening duo, Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum, lost wicket at a time when their presence was highly required. I Abdulla dismissed Finch and McCullum at the scores of 4 and 1, respectively. Regardless of housing the potential and confidence to give their squad a wonderful start, their dismissals in a single over put stress on the entire team. It mounted the moment Suresh Raina threw his wicket at a score of 1 on a delivery by Watson. Gujarat Lions were brought in game back since wicket keeper – batsman Dinesh Karthik tried to place the ball in gaps and run ones or twos. His 26-run innings off 30 balls comprised a couple of fours.

The huge difference was brought by Dwayne Smith, who tried to give his best to make the team gain some ground. The middle-order batsman pocketed 73 runs off 41 deliveries, inclusive of five fours and six biggies. Hadn’t the sixes and boundaries been hit, it would have been tough for GL to even feel themselves in the game at all. Tail-ender batsmen didn’t do much for the Gujarat Lions. If same happens today too, problem will be enormous for Raina-led side. Not to forget that stint of Ravindra Jadeja was short and he did not shine on an important occasion. Dwayne Bravo pocketed just eight runs. Praveen Kumar as usual was sent back to the dressing room post scoring one run. But yes, Eklavya Dwivedi was unquestionably successful in giving GL a push by hitting two sixes and a boundary in his knock of 19 runs in 9 balls. Dhawal Kulkarni added specific 10 runs in 4 balls.

It is not that the outcome of the previous match affects in the other game, but eyes can’t be closed to the fact that either it has an effect on players’ confidence or motivate them to do better this time. Likelihood of seeing GL putting best foot forward is high for the reason that they would never like to miss the opportunity of qualifying in Grand Finale and beat RCB, who thrashed them recently by 4 wickets. The success made Royal Challengers Bangalore reach at a place that wasn’t likely during league phases as victory wasn’t coming to them easily. Thanks to their winning streak, RCB were able to jump at top two and proceed further.

Despite the fact that Gujarat Lions missed being victorious in the game against RCB, they have a second chance and they will not let it go in no case. Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi may possiby get fully packed with cricket fans, who are desperate to see which team among GL and SRH is to win in the Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League, which will come to an end on May 29 – the day when last match will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both teams are aware with strengths and weaknesses of each other. Not to forget that Kolkata Knight Riders were crushed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who defended an average total and made opponents fall 23 runs short to chase the target.

Shikhar Dhawan will now have to perform as it is a do or die game now. Losing wicket in the early hours of play adds to trouble on the other batsmen. Moises Henriques and David Warner somehow lifted the pressure up by playing innings of 31 runs off 21 balls and 28 runs off 28 balls against KKR. A little stability helped the team play as a unit.  Yuvraj Singh without doubt did not allow KKR bowling lineup build any sort of stress on him. He carried on sending the ball into the fences in spite of the fact that opponents tried to deliver good balls in accurate line and length. Expectations are up from Deepak Hooda as well for the reason that he showcased a brilliant play by hitting a couple of biggies while batting at an individual score of 21 off just 13 balls.

Both teams have their plus and minus points. But towards the end, it is going to be one team that will emerge as a victor.  Performance as a team and an individual will be of huge significance. Climatic conditions are to play important role in today’s game. Despite Delhi is said to witness a warm day with hazy sun, dust blowing can cause of a problem. Humidity is to remain high and that is going to bother players even after sundown. The teams contesting today may consider six batsmen and five bowlers’ strategy as this may work to have a grip in the match. But it will be crucial to notice who pulls off at the right time to prove skipper’s confidence right and contribute much from his side.
