The foreign condition is going to test their abilities in all possible aspect. Attaining runs and pocketing wickets on time will be important for the tourists to let contest be an exciting one.

Putting forward play as a unit is certainly going to be of immense help. The entire team that landed on the South Africa would look for achieving the grip right from the beginning to start their tour on a positive note. In the coming days, possibility of watching good show between these two squads is vastly up as these being heavyweights. The first Test between Sri Lankan and Proteas will be played at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth from December 26 to December 30. Besides this, second Test will be held at Newlands in Cape Town from January 2 to January 6. More to the point, the final Test will be hosted at New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg from January 12 to January 16.

After enjoying the fun of Test cricket, people will carry on witnessing amazing show by the teams in the shortest format of the game. T20Is will start from Friday, January 20 and will come to an end on Wednesday, January 25. SuperSport Park in Centurion, New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg and Newlands in Cape Town are the venues that have been picked to host first, second and third 20-20 over matches, respectively. Each format of cricket is different, testing potential of how to perform whether conditions are familiar or unfamiliar. ODIs will begin from January 28. Last match between the two cricketing nations will take place on February 10. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ODIs are to take place at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth, Kingsmead in Durban, New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Newlands in Cape Town and SuperSport Park in Centurion, respectively. All preparations at these venues are supposed to be of first-class to host games without any trouble.

Here is to mention that pattern of scoring at these grounds of South Africa is different. This can easily be learnt by taking into account the scores pocketed in first, second, third and fourth innings. If truth be told then it will be an opportunity for both the guests and hosts to increase possibility of winning, beating all odds. Creating a group where each player is keen to add efforts from his side will be a real success. Easily getting under the pump is not going to work for any of the teams. Not to forget that people expect nail-biting contests, keeping in mind talent housed by Sri Lanka and South Africa teams, who are a mix of both experienced and inexperienced players.

Sri Lanka Test squad is to be captained by Angelo Mathews. He would hope Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Perera, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dilruwan Perera, Lahiru Kumara, Vikum Sanjaya, Nuwan Pradeep, Dushmantha Chameera, Suranga Lakmal, Rangana Herath and Upul Tharanga to be at their best. He would expect good show from his end as well. As per latest reports, South Africa Test squad for 1st and 2nd Test will have Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla, Kyle Abbott, Temba Bavuma, Stephen Cook, Theunis de Bruyn, Quinton de Kock, Jean-Paul Duminy, Keshav Maharaj, Dean Elgar, Wayne Parnell, Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada. A few changes are likely in the last Test.

Leadership skills of Angelo Mathews and Faf du Plessis will be of huge significance. The captains of Sri Lankan and South Africa would wish to give their fans chance to get entertained. Cricket lovers do not want anything more than a victory of their favourite side. The powerhouses will make sure to be outstanding in all departments whenever contesting against each other. Directing players in a manner that could motivate them be on the path of success could be a key to be victorious. Triumph is always motivating but failures also let people learn a lot. Things go same when two teams compete against each other.

It would not be wrong to assume that confidence of the home side will indisputably be up thanks to having players who are young and confident of displaying good show in the tournament that is to start soon. But at the same time, it can’t be denied that challenges will not be there for them. In fact, pressure of performing in their den and in front of home audience mount automatically. Those who do not succumb to it are able to create a specific place for themselves in the squad and hearts of viewers. No wonder if Proteas may let the tourists feel the heat in more ways than one. This is possible if accustomed conditions are utilized perfectly.

It would be right to predict that attention of both skippers will be on going with right combination of batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders. This is an important step to think of pocketing victories. Maintaining a balance in the Playing XI through correct mishmash of talent is of great use. The squads announced for Tests of both sides are expected to be the best in a manner that could lend a hand to teammates stay strong when the contest begins. The Test skipper will look forward to winning the toss. However, keeping in mind the recent outcome of England vs. India Test match series, it can be said that sometimes losing the toss can be beneficial as well. Putting best foot forward is possible if one has the belief on what he can do from his end to keep the squad on a strong side.

In view of the fact that players are able to score well, the level of fun may go at peak the moment Test series kicks off from Monday. Exposure to shortest format of the game may also allow many go for hitting the ball hard and take risk. Players in this day and age are fearless while going for biggie, adding to enormous excitement. This is definite that the upcoming tournament between Sri Lanka and South Africa will grab the eyeballs given that it is the matter of achieving big and more than each other. At the same time, cricket lovers are all set too to cheer for favourite side. Even though T20 and ODI matches catch the eyes but Test cricket is enjoyed a lot as things may change vastly from Day 1 to Day 5, having a major effect on the results as well.

It will be interesting to notice whether anybody from the present squad see their names in the category of most runs, highest individual scores, highest average, highest strike rate, most centuries, most fifties, most boundaries, most sixes, most wickets, best bowling figures, most five-wicket hauls and best economy or not. Not to forget that whichever team logs victory in first Test will gain lead and solidify its chance to move ahead in the contest in sheer confidence. All eyes are stuck on performance of both squads since batting collapse and dropped catches could turn costlier. Any mistake from the start is to be avoided and focus is to be paid on winning the contest. Scenario over winning or losing the match will get clear after the match begins.
